Marielle Schram is a Dutch Artist with a degree from the Art Academy in Tilburg. She now lives and works in Surrey.
Marielle has a very distinctive style of painting. She uses leaves, berries, seeds and flowers as symbols, working with shapes and the contrasts in colour. The deliberate use of repetition, the action of mark making or the tearing of paper, are an essential part of the process. She keeps the images simple, reflecting on emotions that relate to solitude and tranquility, capturing the beauty she sees in randomness.
The natural colours in her work are enhanced by the way the canvas has been prepared beforehand, projecting a 2D illusion of depth and stillness.
