HRH Princess Alexandra

On Tuesday 2nd July 2019, The Sunbury Embroidery Gallery welcomed HRH Princess Alexandra, who presented our volunteers with the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.

The visit, which included a viewing of the Sunbury Millennium Embroidery, was attended by a group of 80, of the 175, volunteers who have been involved with the project since its inception in 1995. With the support of these volunteers, the gallery welcomes 45,000 visitors annually.

Since opening in the summer of 2006, we have welcomed over 500,000 visitors, staged over 100 exhibitions featuring the work of over 300 artists, run over 200 workshops, and developed a community outreach programme involving local schools for children with additional needs.
