This class is set over 2 consecutive Saturday mornings and there will be a small amount of work to be done at home to be ready for the second class.

 More information about this workshop:

During this course you will learn how to cover the individual card pieces, using both double sided tape and also mitring the corners and lacing the fabric at the back.  The card will be pre-cut for you.

Once all pieces are covered you will learn how to use a curved needle to stitch the card pieces together to construct the box.

You will also learn some surface stitches: stem stitch, lazy daisies and straight stitches to embroider the lid of your box, in the style of branches and leaves.  This will be done in gold metallic thread to enhance the gold splashes on the fabric.

This class is set over 2 consecutive Saturday mornings as follows:

Class 1: you will learn how to cover the card using double sided tape and you will learn how to embroider the fabric for the outer lid.

Class 2: you will learn how to cover the outer lid piece of card, using the fabric you embroidered the week before.  This is done by mitring the corners on the back and by lacing the fabric to hold it tight.  You will then learn how to stitch the pieces together to construct the box.

There will be a small amount of work to be done at home to be ready for the second class, which will include finishing the embroidery on the lid, and covering any card pieces you may not have done during the class.

The kit will include everything you need to make the box, including 12 pieces of pre-cut card, the fabric and threads and instructions to help you along with the class as well as at home.

What to bring with you: fabric scissors, embroidery scissors, a sharp pencil and a 6”/15cm embroidery hoop are essential.  A 12”/30cm ruler or measuring tape and a pair of tweezers would be useful.  They do not have to be specialist tweezers.
