Embroidery with Katherine Savage

Katherine Savage started her stitching journey age 7 on the Isle of Wight with her grandmother. Her hobby became a lifelong passion, and she went on to study at London College of Fashion. In recent years, she has started to exhibit at national events such as the Knitting & Stitching Show and can occasionally be found on Sewing Street TV demonstrating embroidery. Katherine has been teaching children embroidery for many years.

Give your wardrobe a creative refresh! In this relaxed 3-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to transform an old or unloved piece of clothing into something beautifully unique with hand embroidery. Bring along a garment of your choice, maybe a denim jacket, shirt, or pair of jeans, and we’ll guide you through how to plan, stitch, and personalise it with embroidery designs that reflect your style. You’ll learn:

  • How to choose and transfer embroidery designs to fabric

  • Basic and decorative stitches that work well on clothing and look good for years to come

  • Tips for stitching on different fabrics (like denim or cotton)

  • How to finish and care for your embroidered piece

We’ll cover all the basics and provide everything you need (except the garment!). By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a beautifully upcycled piece of clothing and the skills to keep adding handmade details to your wardrobe.
