ROYAL SCHOOL OF NEEDLEWORK HAMPTON COURT
2022 GRADUATES
The Royal School of Needlework celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2022 and will bring to Sunbury work by its 2022 graduating class from the BA Hand Embroidery Degree and the Future Tutors programme.
Both courses learn the same techniques but the students are challenged to take them in very different directions: for the Future Tutors it is to develop the highest technical skills, for the Degree it is to take the stitch into many different directions that might include fashion, interiors, textile art, jewellery or costume. Indeed our degree students are famous for the variety of their work as each student follows their own path.
Both courses teach stitch to a very high level which is why students from both courses have won awards at the Hand and Lock embroidery competition, the most prestigious
hand embroidery competition with a world-wide entry, won by RSN Degree students in 2017 and 2018 and by an RSN Future Tutor in 2020.
The exhibition will feature two and three dimensional pieces that will show what stitch can be today, exciting, dynamic, forward looking, innovative as well as traditional. This exhibition will aim to inspire, inform, surprise and delight.
